01 Underbalanced Drilling

Drilling With Control.
Performance By Design.

Integrated Underbalanced Drilling solutions engineered around reservoir conditions, well objectives and operational requirements.

Engineered
Around the Well.

Horizon Well Services provides integrated Underbalanced Drilling solutions combining pre-job engineering, pressure and flow analysis, specialized surface equipment, rotating control, returns management and experienced field execution.

Each UBD system is engineered around the specific conditions of the well. Well geometry, formation characteristics, expected pressure regime, circulation requirements and anticipated downhole and surface conditions are evaluated to define the required equipment and operating parameters.

From initial well evaluation and system engineering through equipment configuration, rig-up, commissioning and field execution, our approach is focused on delivering a safe, reliable and efficient drilling system tailored to the operational objectives of the well.

Configured for
the Conditions.

The circulating medium and operating regime are selected according to formation characteristics, pressure conditions, well geometry and drilling objectives.

01

Dry Air

Compressed-air drilling systems engineered around required circulation rates, annular velocity, cuttings transport and effective hole cleaning. Dry air systems can provide high drilling performance in suitable formations while minimizing the use of liquid drilling fluids.

02

Mist Drilling

Mist drilling introduces a controlled quantity of liquid into the air stream to improve cuttings transport, reduce dust and support more stable circulation where completely dry-air conditions are not optimal. Liquid and air injection rates are configured according to hole conditions and required lifting performance.

03

Foam Drilling

Engineered foam systems provide increased carrying capacity and improved cuttings transport compared with dry air or mist systems. Foam properties, injection rates and circulation parameters are configured according to well geometry, formation conditions and required hydraulic performance.

04

Aerated Fluid Drilling

Aerated fluid drilling combines a liquid drilling fluid with injected gas to reduce the effective density and hydrostatic pressure of the circulating column. Gas and liquid rates are engineered to achieve the required bottomhole pressure and circulation characteristics while maintaining effective hole cleaning and controlled returns at surface.
